I must have been burying my head so deep in some vacuum those years in Beijing that it took an Australian collegue to point out to me, while standing on the streets of Macau, that the names of the 5 mascots string a similar sounding welcome greeting -- 贝贝，晶晶，欢欢，迎迎，妮妮。 And that the colours are representative of the 5 elements -- 金木水火土。 Rrrrright.
